Celebrating legacyof Zaha Hadid

Architects and designers will pay tribute at the Charleston Festival to the late Zaha Hadid, the RIBA Gold Medallist who died just weeks before she was due to speak at the event on Bank Holiday Monday (May 30).

Artistic director Diana Reich felt it was important is to honour her with a tribute involving people who worked with her and with the Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres, a project close to her heart. The centre in Fife was Zaha’s first built work in the UK.

Taking part on May 30 will be landscape designer Sir Charles Jencks, architect, sculptor and co-founder of the centres. He will be joined by Farshid Moussavi RA, Professor of the Practice of Architecture at Harvard. Her recent work includes Victoria Beckham’s flagship London store.

Diana Reich said: “I hope as many people as possible will want to share in this tribute to a great architect – the first woman to be awarded the RIBA’s Gold Medal.”
