FORMER Eastbourne Borough stalwart Danny Simmonds has completed a switch to Eastbourne Town.

The utility man becomes Ady Colwell's seventh summer acquisition as the Saffrons outfit look to mount a serious challenge for the Ryman League next season.

Ahead of Town's pre-season friendly at Hailsham tomorrow (2pm), a delighted Colwell said, "I am pleased that Danny will be joining us. He is an excellent signing for the club. He is another experienced character to add to our squad.

"We undoubtedly lacked a bit of experience at times last season and Danny can give us that."

Simmonds, 31, failed to hold a regular spot with Boro towards the end of last season and had a brief stint with Ashford Town.

The ex-Brighton player has been training with Colwell's men in recent weeks.

Boro head coach Nick Greenwood said, "Danny was a tremendous asset to Eastbourne Borough. We wish him well with Town and he is welcome back to Priory Lane any time."
