Wright on the money: Eastbourne athlete back on track

With many athletics matches cancelled such as the Nationals, University Championships and international events, the South of  England championships was the opportunity for Eastbourne Rovers ace Bailey Wright to test his form against top athletes from across the south.

Wright was competing for the first year as a senior as he lined up for the 100m sprint.

In the heat he coasted through in first place in a time close to his personal best with 10.65 for a brilliant first race of the day.

In the semi he had a great start and kept relaxed as he crossed the line in second for a wind assisted 10.55.

So the test was whether he could keep up this fantastic standard in the final...

He did not disappoint as he kept his form and surged through the finish in the silver medal position in a personal best of 10.54.

These consistent times put Wright in the top 20 in the country.

Rovers’ Rose Chaplin also travelled to Chelmsford and ran a well paced 400m to clock 64 seconds.
