Hailsham Harriers ladies’ captain Alissa Ellis stormed her first ultra marathon to take second place.

On a beautiful morning, runners gathered in St Helens Gardens along Eastbourne seafront for some ‘real life’ running races.

Hosted by Endurance Life and under strict Covid guidelines, runners pre-booked one of four different race distances, a 10k, half-marathon, marathon and ultra marathon (33 miles).

With a maximum elevation of 689ft above sea level, entrants faced plenty of ups and downs as each distance tackled the world famous Seven Sisters with stunning views out to the Channel.

Of 108 runners Ellis completed the 33 -mile ultra marathon in an amazing time of 5:18:42, second female and 23rd place overall.

The events show normality is starting to reappear.
