Tennis in the Park, in Gildredge Park, has once again run its annual free of charge February half term tennis camp.
This year’s event has been the most successful ever by quite some margin with 534 children signing up to two or more sessions in the week in order to improve their tennis skills.
Francis Mackie, the club’s manager, said “Eastbourne’s appetite for tennis is always strong and the response has been amazing.
“As a community facility, we are trying to break down the stuffy image of tennis and traditional clubs.
“We always offer this tennis event free of charge to attract new players of any age to the game.”
Tennis in the Park’s recent partnership with Gildredge House School was critical in accommodating all the children wanting to play.
The school’s brand new sports hall proving an invaluable additional facility.
The club’s coaching team has also been strengthened by the addition of Nikki Woodhouse, a former international and British top 10 player.
“We are very lucky to have attracted a coach of Nikki’s calibre.
“Her success as a player will prove an inspiration to Eastbourne’s junior and adult players,” added Richie Harrison, the club’s Head Coach.
As an ongoing promotion, Tennis in the Park offers all new players a free trial taster session.
