In great sunshine but an easterly wind, the route included famous landmarks such as Chanctonbury Ring, Ditchling Beacon and Firle Beacon.

Wayne Langley completed his first ultra event as part of his overall aim to run 2021 miles in 2021 for the Mind charity in recognition of the many people who have struggled with mental illness over the past year.

Three runners participated in the Endurance Life Ultra event, which had a new course starting at St Helens Gardens in Eastbourne continuing over many landmarks of the South Downs including The Long Man of Wilmington. Other runners from Run Wednesdays also completed the Endurance Life Marathon and Half Marathon routes.

Sarah Lawrence ran her first marathon distance over the challenging course in 4hr 45min.

Chris Lamour and Magdalena Schorner ran the Hurtwood 50k. Magdalena completed her first ultra distance and Chris narrowly missed out on a top place at the race after a fall early in the race over the Surrey Hills, but still achieved a fantastic time of 4.42.

If you are interested in starting running as part of your daily exercise regime and would like to friendly support and advice, check out the Run Wednesdays Facebook and Instagram pages. Runs take place throughout the week, including female and child sessions.
