Eastbourne rider Flower continues Ducati Trioptions Cup campaign

The MyDuctwork Team descended on the 2.97 mile Snetterton circuit last weekend where Eastbourne-based rider Matt Flower carried on his campaign aboard the Ducati Panigale V2 in the Ducati Trioptions Cup, part of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Having already been to Snetterton this year with the No Limits Championship Matt was confident that he could not only improve on his lap times but also get closer to the racing lines.

This was to prove difficult all weekend as the elements played a big part with extremely high winds taking riders away from the typical racing line. This was to be monitored throughout the weekend by the organisers. Undeterred, Matt completed both free practice and the qualifying shaving his time by over 4 seconds which he was delighted with.

The first race came around quickly with Matt getting a good start of the line for the 10 lap race, it was tough to navigate where the wind was pushing the hardest around the track to determine how much to let the throttle off or not. He was getting stuck in and battling with the large group at the back. Having only raced once before in the championship he has come on leaps and bounds. His fastest lap was a 2:08.423, doing speeds around 129mph though the speed traps.

Race 2 on the Sunday saw the wind die down, where he had the chance to take more time off his already shrinking lap times. Matt again had some good battles starting to move though the pack at the back of the grid. He only managed a 2:09 in this race however he gained 7 places in total and took the chequered flag in 24th position.

The next round will be at Silverstone where Matt looks forward to having more track time to test a new type of tyre. You can watch LIVE on Eurosport or catch up on ITV4.
