Four-time world long track champion Joonas Kylmakorpi is on his way back to Arlington.

He is the fifth name on the Eastbourne Eagles team-sheet for the 2014 season.

Kylmakorpi, who last rode for the club in 2012, joins Bjarne Pedersen, Cameron Woodward and reserves Lewes Blackbird and Daniel Halsey as confirmed starters when the tapes go up in March.

Finnish star Kylmakorpi decided to “sit out” last year’s Elite League campaign but during the summer had lengthy talks with co-promoter and team manager Trevor Geer over coming in to strengthen the team.

Geer said, “Joonas was keen to come and help us last season but fixture clashes made it impossible.

“As a result, we were pleased to let him go on loan to Peterborough after he decided he wished to resume his British career.”

Kylmakorpi, he said, is investing heavily in equipment for 2014 and putting an emphasis on being super-fit.

At the moment he is busy training and preparing for the season in Andorra.

Geer added, “Supporters can see we are building a strong team.

“A spearhead of Bjarne, Joonas and Cam will certainly pack a punch.

“We have worked hard to bring Joonas in and this is excellent news for the Eagles.”
