Tension builds in relegation battle

The relegation battle at the bottom of Division One in the Eastbourne Snooker League is becoming a very close and tense affair.

In this week’s matches, the team lying in 12th place Glastonbury F travelled the short distance to the Fishermens Club to play Meads A, with the home side triumphing.

Eastbourne Workingmens Club A lying in 13th place travelled to Seaford to face the Con Club, their visit came to no avail losing 4-1, Brian Bearne winning the solitary frame for the Workers 60-12 against Gary Cooper.

Angling Club B in 14th fell to a 4-1 home loss by Nuthouse A, Dave Pain preventing the whitewash with a 57-32 victory over Wayne Westcott in frame five.

In 15th place comes Nuthouse B who lost to Glastonbury C.

Fishermens E in 16th and last place fell to another 4-1 loss, this time against mid table Glastonbury A.

Leaders Glastonbury B extended their lead at the top of the table with another 5-0 away victory over HMI Rutherfords.

Hailsham MI C fell further behind Glastonbury B at the head of the league table by only recording a 3-2 home win over fourth placed Polegate Legion A. Rob Thomas the HMI C skipper had a 60 break in his 79-33 win over the legion skipper Mark Saunders.
