Eastbourne Edge U12s delivered some fantastic performances and finished runners-up at the British Inline Skate Hockey 2012 National Championships.

The Edge qualified for the tournament held in Hastings as the South East champions. They progressed through the group stages, winning all their games and qualified for the semi finals.

There they met Ash Vipers and the Vipers started well scoring two quick goals in the opening minutes.

A time out was called to give the coaches Tim Repchuk and Graeme Smith a chance to calm nerves and settle the team.

Nine goals later and Ash were well and truly beaten.

In the final Edge were up against last year’s winners Stansted Spitfires. Edge set off in style scoring three quick goals and looking good for the win. However, with the advantage of a larger and more experienced side, Stansted pulled themselves back into contention drawing level before clinching the game with very late final goal. In the last minute Edge threw everything at the Stansted goal hitting the keeper, the uprights, the cross bar but sadly not the net.

It was the highest place any Eastbourne team have ever achieved.
