Sue beats rain to win Monthly Medal

Lizzie Carol won the Royal Eastbourne Ladies’ Golden Jubilee Cup with a best net score of 66.

The result took a further three shots off her handicap, bringing her down to 21.

In the same competition, Carolynn Maylen (handicap 17) came first in silver division with a net 71, while Dorothy McDonald (handicap 10) came second with 76.

In Bronze One, Mary Horrobin came in with a net 75, just ahead of Anne Moon on 76.

Carrie Tafft won Bronze Two with a net 74 as Jean Cripps took second place.

In the men’s results, no less than four pairs amassed 44 Stableford points in Round Two of the winter league.

Sean Welch and his son Tom placed first ahead of Richard Brewell and Steven Williams, with Martin Hughes and Andy Lawrence coming in third.

At Eastbourne Park Golf Club, Sue Bell overcame very wet ground conditions to take the Monthly Medal.

Sue returned with a net 70 to win by 10 shots ahead of Cherry Benzmann.

Cherry did get both the 2nd and 6th nearest the pins and Ladies’ Captain, Chris Gocher, won on the ninth.

Ralph Richardson came first in the Seniors Stableford, with Richard Ellis second and acting Captain Chris Mottershead third.

Geoff Hart (2nd), Chris (6th) and Jim Cumming (4th) won nearest the pins.
