Spirited Under-12s suffer narrow defeat to national champs

The Eastbourne Edge hosted an Under 12 Skate Hockey tournament for teams from the South East.

Edge U12s started with a 3-3 draw against the leaders of the South League, Ash Vipers.

They then beat Borehamwood Crusaders 2-0 before losing 4-1 to Stansted Spitfires, who are the 2011 National U12 champions and current leaders of the London and East England League.

The results put Eastbourne Edge through to the final where they again faced Stansted Spitfires.

After a very spirited effort, Edge conceded two quick goals in the last 30 seconds of the first half.

In the second half, Stanstead added a third before Edge got one back to see the game end 3-1 to the Spitfires.

It was a great performance from the whole team. Eastbourne Edge U12 Captain Archie Warren was chosen for the tournament Dream Team and the Eastbourne Edge Most Valuable Player (MVP) award

The Edge U12 team are currently leading the South East League and on course to qualify for the National Championships at the end of October and a chance of a re-match against the top teams from the Country.
