TeenageRS Chloe Mabb and Noah Evans, from the Martial Arts Centre in Eastbourne, haveagain dominated their age category at international level.

The duo participated in the Kuk Sool Won Benelux Tournament’held in Rotterdam, Holland last weekend.

The prestigious event was a great success attracting martial arts students from all over the world, as well as the home nations of Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Chloe, 14, added the Benelux title of overall 1st degree black belt Grand Champion to the British crown she gained last year by finishing top of the individual medals table. Against strong competition, Chloe won two gold, two silver and a copper medal in the five disciplines in which each competitor must enter.

Chloe said “This was one of the toughest tournaments I have entered. It’s a real testament to our instructors in Eastbourne that between us, Noah and I have managed to top the medal table across the board.

“We’ve trained really hard putting strong emphasis on attention to detail in both our empty hand and weapon forms.”

Noah, 13, added to his previous World and European titles winning two Gold and two Bronze medals in Rotterdam, a tremendous achievement being the youngest competitor in the under 17s age category.

Noah said “This was a real step up in quality and class for me, I don’t think the size and strength of some of the older boys made a lot of difference when competing in the forms and weapon categories, but I really noticed the difference in the sparring event.”

Martial Arts Centre - Eastbourne Chief Instructor, Master Philip D Holmes 7th Degree, was extremely pleased with his two young students stating:

“Although our main focus at the Martial Arts Centre is to teach our students the traditional values and disciplines of martial art training, modern-day national and international tournaments give our students the opportunity to participate at the highest level of martial art competition.

“This in turn enables our students to gain invaluable experience which ultimately adds to their skill level, as well as giving them a sense of achievement if they should do particularly well.” Well done Chloe and Noah.”
