Eastbourne’s Heather Olver failed to qualify for the main draw of the All England Badminton Championships after losing out to former teammate Imogen Bankier.
The 26-year-old and partner Kate Robertshaw exited the tournament after the 21-6, 21-15 defeat but are already planning on how to improve at future events.
“It is disappointing with the ladies doubles,” admitted Olver.
“It was Kate’s first All-England so I think she was a little bit nervous.
“It’s a shame because last year I was in the main draw straight away.
“We need to start doing better at the lower tournaments so we can get our ranking up and get straight in rather than through qualifying because there are so many good players out there at the moment.”
“We are still quite a new partnership and are still trying hard to find our way.
“It’s just a shame we couldn’t bring out our best, especially here in England.”
Olver’s misery was further compounded with defeat in the mixed doubles final qualifying round with partner Chris Langridge.
