New job for rugby stalwart Gossedge

FORMER Eastbourne Rugby Club stalwart Nigel Gossedge has a new job as coach of Hellingly RFC,

Gossedge departed from Park Avenue last season after some 30 years with the Eastbourne club.

He told Herald Sport, “This is an exciting time for me. I wanted to join a club where I felt I could help make a difference and Hellingly have a talented group of players who have the potential to play at a higher level.

“I am looking to produce two very fit squads that can realise their own aspirations to play an exciting brand of rugby. Success follows hard work and my role will be to make sure that the players are ready for a tough campaign and have the ability to meet the challenges.

“My aim is to develop the players; challenge them to improve fitness, improve individual and team technical skills and harness this in a strong team ethic.”

In addition to Gossedge’s appointment as head coach, other changes at Hellingly include Luke Davies as chairman, Steve Wennington as director of rugby and Mark Harris as captain.

Training takes place on Mondays 7pm; Wednesdays 7pm at Horsebridge and every Thursday from July 14; kettlebell work at Gildredge Park (all welcome).
