Seaford Striders put themselves to the test in a variety of events on another busy running weekend.
Natalie McCreath and Kallum Wright plumped for the mammoth 50K Weald Challenge Ultra Race to and fro Chiddingly, venturing as far as the summit of Ashdown forest on both the Wealdway and Vanguard way.
Running together for most of the race on single track trails through valleys, fields and woodlands and negotiating over 100 gates and stiles, Natalie eventually pipped Kallum by approximately 10 mins. Her magnificent time of 5hrs 25mins ensured her 3rd place Lady for the event as both excelled in a superbly organised race.
At the BUPA London 10K, rumours that the inclusion of powerful Striders duo Richard Honeyman and Richard Kimber prompted Mo Farah’s withdrawal have yet to be substantiated.
On a warm day in the capital the rain held off and the race finished in brilliant sunshine.
Featuring the Mall, the City and St James’s Park, the flat course, enthusiastic crowd support and roadside bands inevitably resulted in fast finishing times. In a field of 12000 Andy Vernon (Aldershot & Farnham) triumphed in 29.33. Richard Honeyman recorded a creditable 45.52 and Richard Kimber finished high in his age group with 1.10.03.
