Young table tennis talent Jack Bennett won his first four star open event in Derby last weekend.
Jack, the number two seed, progressed through the qualifying round of the U15 event before a tough quarter final match-up against Gabriel Achacampong from London. Jack eventually progressed 11-7 in the fifth after some scintilating table tennis.
He beat James Hobson from Yorkshire in the semi-final in straight sets and faced Bradley Wood in the final after number one seed Alec Ward from Cleveland was defeated. Jack finally triumphed 11-7 in the fifth game and was presented with a trophy and £50 from Bribar table tennis.
He also performed well in the U18 event. He reached the quarter finals and lost narrowly to number three seed and eventual runner up Laurence Sweeney from Grantham.
Younger brother Joshua reached his seeded position of the quarter finals in the U13 boys event. He nearly managed a major upset losing 11-8 in the fifth game to number one seed Alec Ward.
Jack adds this title to his recent success in the Sussex championships. Jack took the junior title beating younger brother Joshua in the final.
