Timo Lahti has been drafted into the Eastbourne Lifestyle Eagles team as a temporary replacement for the injured Kim Nilsson.
The Finnish rider was at the club’s Official Practice on Saturday and will line up against Birmingham in the first home match on March 29.
Club co-promoter, Mike Bellerby said, “We have received approval from the sport’s management committee to reintroduce Timo to our team as a temporary replacement for the injured Kim.”
He said it was hoped Nilsson, injured in pre-season training in the USA, will be back racing early in May.
Lahti was originally left out of the Eagles’ team for 2014 but was immediately placed on stand-by once Nilsson’s injury became known.
The team went through their paces at the practice, although all but Mikkel Michelsen have tested at Arlington this year.
Co-promoter and team manager, Trevor Geer, will be talking to the riders about the team’s riding order for league matches and the positions they will occupy.
“It is our first opportunity to be all together this year,” he said.
“We will talk things through before I make the final decision.”
Geer warned supporters not to read anything into the numbers riders wear at the practice.“These are being used to help our guests from the media with identification and that’s all,” he said.
