Eastbourne Hockey Club travel to Henley this weekend, in their first away match of the new season.

The mens first team lost out in their opening match, and their first game on the new astro pitch at the Saffrons to Trojans, 3-0.

Eastbourne were relegated from the Premier Division One last season, after picking up only three points all season. But the club went out and made the changes in the off season with a new astro installed and a number of new and old players coming into the club.

But boss David Adelston is satisfied with the players at his disposal after a season of recruitment. The first team lost six players but managed to get in a further nine.

“We have some good players in our team. We have got a good squad they’re fit, young and their is a little bit of experience in there.”

After recently being relegated, Eastbourne know little about most of the teams in Division Two.

Eastbourne manager Adelston, said, “The first half of this league will be interesting, seeing what teams are like. We have never played against most of these teams.

Saturday’s opposition Henley opened their season with an impressive 4-0 win over Barnes which puts them in first place.

Adelston added, “It will be very tough. If we have the right mindset we will be fine. It will be great to come away with something. it’s up to them to perform.”

Eastbourne will be hoping to put in a solid perfomance and pick up their first points of the season.
