Herne Bay provided wind and sunshine but Eastbourne’s Jamie Howard provided the class in round three of UKWA Freestyle Windsurfing Tour.
Jamie, 15, surfed his way to first place in the junior class and delighted the crowds with a combination of smooth surfing, jumps and tricks.
Jamie attends Bishop Bell School and only started competing last year and this was his first win on the tour.
All competitors surfed and sailed their hearts out until the sun went down and the water ran out.
The mist at dawn on Saturday morning dispersed by midday and the winds picked up and the sea flattened off to provide a perfect setting for the freestylers to demonstrate their skills.
Overnight the rain came and Sunday started damp with light winds, however, by mid-morning the wind picked-up enough to allow the freestylers to get out and make the most of the difficult conditions.
Event 4 will be held at Eastbourne July 14-15 and local windsurfers are encouraged to join in the Amateur Class. Freestyle is a great spectators sport and all are welcome to watch and provide support.
