Monday night saw the Handicap Cup final of the Eastbourne Red Triangle Stoolball League being played between Trojans and Rodmill. As both teams are from Division One, the handicap system was not brought into play and both teams started on zero runs.

Trojans lost the toss and went in to bat first with the usual opening pair of Simon Perry and Sharon Lewis.

The score ticked along nicely before Simon was caught out by Graham Holman having scored 42. Sharon followed a similar fate a few balls later, being caught by Darren Kendall.

They were replaced by Grant Smith and Susie Smith. This pair managed to stay in for 6 overs, quick legs sneaking 2’s where by rights there shouldn’t have been! Grant was eventually bowled and caught by Neil Craddock after scoring 42.

A few more came and fell before Rory Markham saw out the over to give Trojans a final score of 168 to defend.

Rodmill’s turn to bat, opening with Paul Watson and Tasha Parris. Tasha was run out on the 4th ball and was replaced by Alicia Parris, who was caught by Rory Markham 4 balls later.

Amanda Penn lasted an over before she too was run out, while Karen and Lauren Hunnisett were quickly caught by Karly Townsend and Grant Smith.

By the end of the 6th over, Rodmill were well behind on the run rate. However, with Danny Simmons and Graham Holman pushed the tally up to ensure Neil Cradoock went in knowing 15 runs were needed from nine balls to win. Meaning business, he hit five 4’s to secure the win for Rodmill with 177.
