Roddick celebrates reaching the AEGON International final

Tennis fans will once again flock to Devonshire Park in their thousands as this year’s AEGON International tennis tournament reaches a conclusion.

First up on centre court (12 noon) Tamira Paszek of Austria will take on Germany’s Angelique Kerber as they compete for the ladies singles title.

It is Paszek’s first ever tournament final and the first time these players have faced each other on the WTA tour.

Paszek said, “It feels amazing (to be in the final). I love Eastbourne. It feels like home. It’s a pleasure coming back every year.”

Paszek reached the final after a battling 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory against defending champion Marion Bartoli on a windy centre court.

Kerber, in contrast breezed through her semi-final against Klara Zakapolova winning 6-0, 6-3. She added, “For sure Tamira will try to win the final also, but I will be out there having fun. I mean, it’s my first time here, and it’s a big thing for me.”

Next up American wildcard Andy Roddick will take on defending champion Andreas Seppi in the men’s final. Roddick and Seppi have only met once before at the US Open in 2008, where Roddick won the match in straight sets.

Roddick said, “This week has worked out. Regardless of what happens, I’ll go into Wimbledon with some wins behind me and some confidence on a surface I’m very comfortable on, so I feel like I go my game back a little this week.”

After the men’s final, doubles experts and tournament number-one seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond will take on Spanish duo Nuria Llagostera Vives & Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.
