Ex-Eastbourne College student Oscar Orellana-Hyder has been called-up to represent El Salvador at next month’s Central American Rugby Championship (CAC) in Sal Salvador.
The CAC consists of four teams - El Salvador, Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica.
El Salvador, known as Los Torogoces, are the defending champions and will aim to win it for the second year in succession.
Oscar received the call up after a university friend who played in the previous campaign informed the head coach of the 27-year-old’s heritage and ability.
He was then interviewed via Skype by El Salvador’s head coach.
Oscar grew up in Bexhill after his mother, who is from El Salvador, moved to England in the early 80s. He learnt to play rugby at Eastbourne College between 2002 and 2007
He flies out and joins up with his compatriots on November 29 before the tournament kicks off on December 6.
Oscar said, “It’ll be a great experience. I can’t wait to get started.”
