Eastbourne’s rising star Olivier Greber will be looking to defend his national champion status at the upcoming 2014 RYA Youth National Championships.

Eighteen-year-old Greber won the Under-19 national title in the mixed multihull Spitfire class in Scotland in 2013 with former sailing partner James Henson.

This earned the pair selection for RYA Team GBR and they went on win bronze at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships last summer in Cyprus.

In his final year of the RYA Youth racing programme before making the transition into the Olympic classes, Greber now sails with Jessica Eales, from Hampshire, and will be eager to defend his crown when racing gets underway on Monday, April 14, at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

Racing will take place across five days on the same course areas used for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and will welcome the best youth sailors from across the country as well as international competitors from as far afield as New Zealand.

The Sussex Down College student, who is a member at Pevensey Bay Sailing Club, will be vying once again for selection to RYA Team GBR –the team which will represent Great Britain at the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship in Tavira, Portugal in July.
