Eastbourne Edge in-Line Hockey club players travelled in droves to Rotherham to represent the South of England in the annual regional championships “Superleague.”
The U10s, with Milan Rohmer in net and Josh Hill and Taheem Javid took on Scotland and Wales in the group stages and lost a close final to the North of England 3-2 to finish second.
The U12s, with Edge’s Zac White-Sey, finished the Superleague as undefeated Champions. The South entered two teams at U14s. The Blue team, one of two teams entered by the South Ant u14s, with Edge’s Callum Smith as captain, Ollie Buckley as Assistant captain and Luke Nicholls leading the attack got through to the semi final where they lost a close game to the South Red team 2-1.
The U14 South Red team, captained by Edge’s Bela Rohmer, with Dan Simons in net and Archie Warren and Harry Blake went on to win the final 3-0 to be crowned regional Superleague Champions.
The South U16 team with Zach Ockmore and Callum Donnelly started the tournament with a 4-4 draw against the North who they met again in the final.
The final was a tight game with North winning in the last minute. The South U24s with Edge players Dion Saracouli, Andrew Bruce and netminder Cameron Brown failed to win a game but played well to finish fifth.
Edge’s Nina Brown played in the South’s Senior Women’s team who ended the Superleague as undefeated Regional Superleague champions.
