THE 2nd Eastbourne Swimming Club Elvers Gala was an afternoon to remember as four event records were broken and nearly everyone achieved at least one personal best time.

It was a first time at a club gala for Connie and Nellie Hannam, Mackenzie Newbury, Meeru Putland and Leah Harman but they were undaunted with Nellie taking first place in the 9 year girls 25m fly, freestyle and breaststroke.

Mackenzie took first place in all four of her 25m events and Meeru, Leah and Connie came second third and fourth respectively in the girls’ 7 and under 25m freestyle.

In her four 50m races, Leah Hallinon cruised home in first place as did Thomas Jackson in the boys’ events.

But in the 11 years and over 50m fly races, the competition was tough. In the boys ‘event, Ghazali Owasil and Nour Karkach battled hard and were neck and neck throughout with Ghazali just taking first place and in the girls event, Enya Costin and Kerris Senior fought right to the end with Enya taking the touch first.

There was success too for James Knight who took home four first places and personal bests in each of his events and for Jasmine Hasib who took first in three of her 50m events.

Top girl was awarded to Sophia Titterton-Manos and Ghazali Owasil was presented with top boy.

Others competing were Emrah Arnas, Olivia Bretherton, Keeley Dunstall, Alysia Dunton, Ryan Goldsmith, Jake Harman, Jessica Hasib, Ewan Hendry, Ruby Johnston, Maddison Jordan-Evans, Ella Maxwell, Hannah Richards, Rachel Richards, Ruan Senior, George Stevens, Jasmine Vine, Matthew Wilson, Aimee Wood and James Woolgar.
