Eastbourne Edge top British ranking after Swiss adventure

The Eastbourne Edge U19 team finished as the highest placed British side at the 2012 Skate Hockey European Cup in Switzerland last week.

In the first group game the Edge went down 2-1 to Swindon Flames but finished the day with victory against leading Swiss side Malcantone.

On day two they beat second ranked British team the Oxford Hurricanes 2-1 to claim a quarter-final place. The Edge played well but lost 3-0 to Swiss champs Rolling Aventicum.

In the 5th to 8th place play-offs they recorded a penalty shoot-out victory versus another Swiss side Novaggio Twins. Netminder Dan Mattock did well in the shoot-out. In the final game, the German champions Bissendorf Panthers scored a late winner to claim fifth which saw the Edge finish sixth overall. The Edge train at Cavendish Sports Centre new players are welcome.
