Eastbourne Speedway have named four of the riders who will take the club into a new era in 2019.
They are Georgie Wood and Tom Brennan, who rode for last year’s league and cup double team winning Eagles’ team, Alfie Bowtell and Lewis Kerr.
Wood and Brennan, who the Arlington Stadium-based club have nurtured over the last four years, were no real surprise as Eastbourne move up to the sport’s middle tier, the Championship.

Wood started with the Eagles in 2014 as a reserve with little speedway experience and since then he has grown to become the club’s No 1 in the double winning team.
Brennan began is career with Eastbourne as a 15-year-old in 2016. At the moment he is racing in Australia.
Bowtell was also no big surprise as his career in recent times has been linked with Jon Cook, who is back at Arlington as co-promoter.
However, the signing of West Norfolk-based Lewis Kerr was generally unexpected. Kerr is something of a “miracle man” when it comes to speedway.
He nearly lost his life in a horror crash in 2015 at Peterborough and last summer broke a leg and foot when he hit the fence at King’s Lynn in a high-speed, first turn spill when the Stars were taking on Leicester.
The full Eagles’ management structure for the step up will be announced at a later date, and will include Cook, who worked in tandem with the late Bob Dugard, winning the Elite League titles in 1995 and 2000.
Commercial manager Ian Jordan commented: “The place is buzzing with excitement and I’m delighted to be involved in this terrific project.
“All our fans will be delighted to hear that Tom and Georgie will again be part of our magnificent seven. To watch them develop to the next stage of their careers will be a joy to all.
“Alfie is ever improving and will be riding under Jon’s stewardship for a third successive year and Lewis Kerr adds great excitement and experience to the third heatleader role.
“I’m sure that all Eagles fans will welcome Alfie and Lewis to the club as fantastic acquisitions.”
Eastbourne know their complete one to seven for next season and the names of the top two and one more back-up rider will be announced before Christmas.
