Eastbourne Eagles rounded off the season in workmanlike fashion with a convincing 60-33 victory over the Belle Vue Aces at Arlington stadium on Saturday evening.

The fixture, twice fell victim to the weather, it proved very much of third time unlucky for the visiting Manchester outfit, whose problems effectively surfaced from the word go.

Number-one Matej Zagar was ruled-out following a fall and subsequent sustaining of a knee injury in heat one, an impressive victory in the rerun his only participation in the match.

Eleswhere, it was only really Craig Cook who offered stern resistance with a 14 point tally.

Otherwise, it was all about the Eagles, each of whom scored or were at least paid for double figures.

Recently crowned Sussex Champion Bjarne Pedersen topped the scorechart with a round dozen points but each man stood up to be counted and there were impressive performances up and down the line as each of the Eagles kept the supporters warm on a bitterly cold night.

The Eagles rattled four 4-2’s and four maximum 5-1’s within the space of the first ten heats.

A trio of race wins, two from Dryml, and a second from Cook in heats 11 to 13 realised a succession of shared heats, giving the Aces supporters a couple of moments to cheer but it was the Eagles who ended the match on the front foot, and breached the 60-point barrier for the one and only time in 2013 to send the Eastbourne fans home happy.
