David Coulson led the Harriers home at the Horsham 10k road race last weekend organised by Horsham Joggers.

The course was two laps taking in undulating country lanes on the outskirts of the town with the finish on the rugby club’s field.

More than 300 runners lined up in good weather and although the route provided some climbs, there were also some downhill sections which lead to some fast times in the race won by the host club’s Andrew Robinson in 33m05s.

Leading Hailsham Harriers home was Dave Coulson who came home in a quality field in 40th place.

A welcome return to the roads came from Allen Grant with 54th place and first lady Harrier home was Louise Taylor.

There was also a special mention to the club’s secretary Marion (Lesley) Underdown who completed the course in 284th place.

Positions and times: 40th Dave Coulson 42m07s, 54th Allen Grant 43m44s, 72nd Louise Taylor 45m01s, 137th Karen Bowler 49m11s, 145th John Taylor 49m54s, 230th Tim Bowler 57m11s, 257th Fran Doe 61m12s, 284th Lesley Underdown 69m01s.

On the same day, three Harriers competed in the local Eastborne 5k race. Bill Fraser had a great run to come home fifth in 20m50s.

Lucy Wright completed the course in 16th place and second lady in 24m49s and Karen Breese was sixth in 30m16s.

The Harriers are holding the first of their club championships the 5,000m which has previously been postponed due to a waterlogged track surface.
