Danny’s century keeps Rodmill in Stoolball title hunt

Danny Simmonds blasted 106 not out for Rodmill to keep them in the hunt for the first division title and also handed Yew Tree their first defeat.

Batting first, Yew Tree scored 162 for the loss of six wickets, with Alan Pope 59 not out. Rodmill lost four wickets before Danny and Karen Hunisett 18 not out took Rodmill to victory with two overs to spare.

Geebro pulled off a vital win with a comprehensive victory over Herstmoncuex. Batting first, Geebro’s Nick Jenner 88 and Neil Downer 29 not out helped set a target of 157 to win.

Herstmoncuex lost wickets early in their innings due to fine bowling from Susie Cable 4-54 and Nick Jenner 5-46 . Paul Riggs 35 was the only major contributor to the Herstmoncuex innings, which ended for exactly 100.

Unison Renegades notched their first win of the season against BHK. Ben Putland 30 and Sara Whittaker 35 aiding BHK’s total of 115 all out in ten overs with Sharron Stretton returning fine bowling figures of 7-44. Sandra Gorringe 58 and Andy Axell 53 not out took Renegades to victory for the loss of two wickets.

In division two Spencer Davies scored 55 not out and Josh Clarke 23 not out to give Lamb Old Town a victory over Pegusus.

After a slow start, Lamb O/T eventually set a target of 124. Pegusus were always in with a chance but could not find a partner to help Tim Redding 31 and Lamb O/T won by 13 runs.

Park Royal comfortably won against Red Lion. Batting first, Kevin Coleman scored an undefeated 107 for Royal with Bridgette Hoad supported with 22, setting a total of 168 in just twelve overs. Nicky Dyson Rooke then took 6-51 and Bridgette took two stunning catches as Red Lion slumped to 84 all out.

division five saw Rompa and Centra Eagles play out a close game with Centra reaching their target in the last over.

Neil Roberts 40 and Simon Mills 37 not out top-scored for Rompa in their total of 147. Eagles batsmen put in a team effort with six of them getting into double figures, Danny Williams 49 and Hanah Collins 26 not out being the best of them.

In the handicap cup, an all first division affair resulted in a win for Rodmill over BHK. Lucas Mann with 83 not out and Pippa Milham 22 were the main contributors to a BHK total of 123. Graham Holman with 74 not out and Paul Watson 21 not out took Rodmill home.

The handicap didn’t count between two third division sides Dark Horses and Deutwag Chargers, the latter coming out on top with a total of 154 thanks to a great all-round batting performance.
