Eastbourne College won the senior SISNA (Sussex Independent Schools Netball Association) tournament.

Despite appalling weather the College first team squad played a string of superb matches beating seven other Sussex schools St Bede’s, Roedean, Mayfield, Lancing, Hurstpierpoint, Ardingly and Brighton - to carry off this coveted title.

This triumph is all the more impressive as many of these girls were part of the U18 College team that won the Sussex U18 hockey championships earlier this year.

Netball squad coach, Mrs Jess Simmonds, commented, ‘These girls are a very talented group. Their teamwork, commitment to training and sheer hard work has resulted in these two superb achievements.”

The squad have had the most successful season to date.

In the lead up to the annual SISNA tournament the girls played nine other teams including two adult teams and have been consistently victorious.

The squad has grown in confidence with each victory and excelled at every opportunity.

The winning netball squad was: Katherine Allan, Rachel Brooks, Katie Goble, Catherine Henderson, Henny Hinchliffe, Alice Lowden, Tessa Mills, Camilla Stephens (Capt.), Sophie Tomkinson.
