Eastbourne’s all conquering table tennis young guns Jack and Josh Bennett made a clean sweep of the Sussex Top 8 Boys and Mens events held at Fontwell last weekend.
Firstly Jack of Sussex Downs College was able to win the Charlie Seaman trophy for the Mens Top 8.
It was a family affair as he had to beat his uncle and former champion Adrian Moore in the final.
Jack, eager to add to medal haul, then triumphed in the Junior trophy.
Once again family ties were put aside as he beat younger brother Josh of Willingdon Community school in the final.
Josh, though, wasn’t down for long. He was able to make up for this by winning the Under 15 Sussex top 8 event, beating George Hazell from Horsham in an keenly contested final.
The boys then had a successful weekend representing Sussex in the Junior Premier division.
Sussex are the current title holders of this event.
The first matches of their campaign went well, with wins over Northants 9-1, Cleveland 8-2 and Devon 8-2.
Both boys were unbeaten playing as number one and two in the five person team.
There were notable wins over top 10 player Alec Ward of Cleveland.
The second half of matches will be played after Christmas to see if Sussex can retain the trophy.
At the moment they are joint top with Middlesex with all to play for.
