Defending champion and rising star of women’s tennis Madison Keys will return to the Aegon International at Devonshire Park.

Keys powered to her first WTA Tour title last year when she overcame German Angelique Kerber 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 on the grass courts at Devonshire Park.

Key produced a devastating display of powerful tennis to take the title and earn the respect of her fellow players and the crowd.

She regularly slammed down serves in the high 120mph that kicked into the grass and saw her opponents trying to return above shoulder height.

The American enjoyed the best Grand Slam performance of her career at the Australian Open in January by reaching the semi-finals and also narrowly lost in the Family Circle Cup final in April.

World No.17 Keys joins double Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in the field and is eagerly anticipating her return to the grass courts.

Keys said, “Going back to the scene of my first WTA Tour title will be a very special moment.

“The Aegon International Eastbourne holds many great memories and I am very excited to play there again.

“I feel comfortable on the courts and will be trying very hard to defend my title.

“The great fans and the special venue really helped me play my best tennis and I am looking forward to seeing all the friendly faces again in June.”
