The AEGON International ladies draw threw up some intriguing contests that, while leaving the Brits happy, present a difficult challenge for 2012 champion Tamira Paszek.
Paszek, who triumphed as an underdog last year, will begin her title defence with a tough match against fifth-seed Caroline Wozniacki.
Laura Robson and Elena Baltacha were both drawn against yet-to-be-determined qualifiers, while Johanna Konta and Heather Watson will play world number 38 Su-Wei Hsieh and world number 25 Varvara Lepchenko respectively.
Elsewhere in the draw, top seed Agnieszka Radwanska will face a qualifier and Ana Ivanovic will come up against 2013 French Open doubles champion Elena Vesnina.
The rest of the draw is as follows: Stosur v Petrava, Kvitova v Niculescu, Cornet v Li Na, Penetta v Bartoli, McHale v Wickmayer.
