Britian’s best young tennis talent set for USA test

Some of Britain’s brightest young tennis players will be handed the chance to shine at the AEGON International next month, as they take on their American counterparts in a special challenge match.

The under 18 team will feature the British trio of Luke Bambridge (pictured), Evan Hoyt and Kyle Edmund who won the Junior Davis Cup last year, as well as Josh Ward-Hibbert, the Australian Open boy’s doubles champion.

The tournament will see the British team take on the USA on 21 and 22 June alongside the AEGON International at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park.

Some of the world’s top players will be on show at the International, including reigning Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, but the GB v USA match up will give tennis fans the chance to see the next generation of tennis stars up close.

Tournament director Gavin Fletcher said, “This match between Great Britain and the USA gives the crowd the chance to have a glimpse of some emerging junior talent.

“The boys from the Great Britain team have had a lot of success in the past year and this will be the chance for them to show off their skills to a wider audience against the USA.”

Simon Jones, Match Director said, “This is the inaugural match of the LTA Junior Challenge Trophy and it promises to be a great match against the USA.

“The British team will consist of some of the best juniors in the world and it will be an exciting prospect to see them competing against America.”
