Barnes’ 50-break puts Hailsham MIC top

Hailsham MI C took over the top position in the first division of the Eastbourne Snooker League following their 5-0 trouncing of HMI Rutherfords.

Matt Barnes, for the new leaders, pocketed a 50 break on his way to a 66- 10 defeat of Damien Hilder.

Rob Thomas, Jack Lander Peter Watson and Ash Bull completed the whitewash.

The derby match between the league champions Glastonbury B and Glastonbury C went the way of the Champions 4-1. In a close and tense match the champions took the opening frame, Martin Wright defeating the Glastonbury C skipper Eddie Davis 70-21. Martin Wright lost on the black to Bruce Meeks 67-60 for a 1-1 score line.

The B team skipper Matt Bray restored the lead with a 57-30 win over Luke Herring. Paul Grimes beat Ryan Knapman 63-47 and Spencer Dain narrowly defeated Mick Compton on the black 43-41.

Dolphin A won the first four frames against Glastonbury F with wins from Paul Binks, Peter Buckland, Neil Sivyer and Nik Driver.

Mark Crotty lost out to Mike Goodwin 60-32 for the solitary Glastonbury F win. Nuthouse A travelled to Seaford to play the Con Club with the home team recording a 3-2 victory with wins from Andy Coe, Mick Walsh and Gary Cooper.Martin Halpin and Ian Townsend replied for the visitors.

Tokki Yamaguchi, for the Glastonbury A-team, pocketed a 41 break on his way to a 96-5 win against the Snooker league President Cyril Miles of Workingmens A. Paul Croft and the Glastonbury A skipper Matt Smith completed the 3-2 home winning frames. Chris Bearne and Trevor Binks replied for the Workers A.

Polegate Legion A travelled to the Fishermens Club to play the Meads A team and their journey was rewarded with a 4-1 victory.

Paul Denness prevented the whitewash with a 68-8 win over the Legion skipper Mark Saunders.

Hailsham MI A won 4-1 at home against Nuthouse B with Gary Callingham the solitary winner for Nuthouse. Dan Carr, Steve Jones, Connor McLean and Mark Sciancalepore having the HMI A winning frames.

Angling Club A hauled in the Fishermens E 3-2 with home wins from James Blackmar, Richard Anderson and Peter Lavington.

The in form Dave Proud along with Craig Knapman secured the two points for the Fish E team with wins over Dave Wilkinson & Dave Pain.

In-form Hailsham Memorial Institute B team, the previously undefeated leaders in division two, came to a crashing first defeat by the cues of Bollards.

Dean Goodall for the leaders got his team off to a flyer by outpointing Alan Mills 68-29.

Phil Marsden, for Bollards, won a close contest against Darren Jeffory 42-33. Clive Kidman the HMI B skipper got his team back to winning ways with a 66-26 win over Paul Sellings.

Mike Ashcroft, the Bollards skipper, stopped Barry Kent 60-23 and Chris Lock took the last frame win 49-16 against Hugh Gault for the Bollards team victory.

Railway Club A put five past previously unbeaten Hailsham Club A.
