Eastbourne Ladies Hockey first team progressed to the second round of The Investec Women’s Trophy with a 1-0 victory over division two side Oxford.
After a disappointing result against league leaders Surbition on Saturday, with the side suffering an 8-0 defeat.
The team avenged the loss on Sunday, with a strong display against Oxford, with a Jen Atkins goal proving to be the decider.
Eastbourne showed fantastic work-rate to frustrate Oxford with Lizzie Woolley being the driving force behind the performance.
The second round now sees Eastbourne travelling to Oxfordshire, to take on Henley Ladies 1’s.
The ladies are also in Sussex Cup action this weekend against Brighton.
The Ladies first team are third from bottom in the Women’s Division Three B.
Meanwhile, the seconds have the weekend off and are next in action on November 10 when they travel to unbeaten tabletoppers Horsham Ladies seconds. Eastbourne seconds are bottom of the Sussex Ladies League Premier having scored just once and conceded 27.
