Eastbourne Rovers Athletics Club made their presence felt at the last of the Horsham indoor 50m sprints and hurdles series.
Here the athletes have the chance to compete in three 50m races trying to improve their time in each race.
In the U17 boys Eastbourne had six athletes so there was plenty of team rivalry.
Favourite going into the first race was George Marsh who did not disappoint as he won his race recording a fast time of 6.3 seconds just of his personal best of 6.2 seconds
Hot on his tail was Matt Harrison who closed the gap to knock a fantastic 0.3 seconds off his personal best with 6.4 seconds.
Rob Turner improved in every race finishing with a series of 6.8 seconds 6.7seconds and 6.6 seconds Rory Burgess showed his turn of speed winning two of his races with a fastest time of 7.3 seconds.
A rugby match in the afternoon took the speed out of Adam Hutchings legs, so he was not able to improve his best time settling for 6.8 seconds.
Newcomer to club competitions Mickolay Bak clocked 7.6 in his fastest race of the evening.
In the U17 girls Maddie Mann blasted out of her blocks to gain an edge on her rivals from Worthing and crossed the line in a brilliant time of 7.0 secs and first place.
Emily Birt gained in confidence with each race improving her time from 7.9secs, to 7.7 secsonds Training partner Heidi Burgess usually prefers the longer sprints but used these races for her speed work recording 8.2 seconds.
Laurie Hughes lined up in the Senior race and was pleased to dip under 7 seconds but this did not measure up to his performances last year.
The Eastbourne Rovers are now gearing up ready for the outdoor season with county championships and League Matches for all age groups.
Training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Eastbourne Sports Park. Contact 01323 505100 for details.
