Saffy takes third

place in America

Nine year old Saffron Dowse from St Bede’s Prep School recently returned from an incredible tennis experience in America.

Saffy took part in The Little Mo tennis tournaments which are the premier challenge for youngsters across the nation to compete against others who are the same age at the sectional, regional and national level.

The first tournament was a huge compass draw of a national standard played with yellow balls and two full sets to six.

Saffy was the only British girl to make the main draw and got as far as the quarters. She then met the number three seed to whom she lost but after a gruelling two hours.

The second tournament Saffy competed a year ahead of herself in the U10 group, when in America Saffy was U9.

After beating the girl who won the whole event, Saffron had to play back to back matches and lost to a girl she should have beaten taking home the title of third place.
