Former England spinner John Emburey will captain the Lashings Allstars in their T20 match against Eastbourne at the Saffrons.
Some of the top names of world cricket will line-up against an Eastbourne XI on Friday, June 12 with the match expected to start at 3pm. Ex-Indian opening batsman Wasim Jaffer will also be the Lashing XI alongside the likes of Muhamaad Wasim of Pakistan. Wasim shot to fame as a 19-year-old with 109 on debut against New Zealand.
A strong English contigent features Chris Schofield, Nick Compton, Martin Bicknell, Alex Tudor and Devon Malcolm. Spin bowler Saqlain Mushtaq of Pakistan will also be on display. He is best known for pioneering the ‘doosra’, which he employed to great effect during his career. It’s a cheeky delivery which is bowled with an action very similar to that of an off-break.However, it spins in the opposite direction from the leg side to the off side. He was the quickest bowler in history of ODI to reach 100 wickets.
Eastbourne chairman Ian Fletcher-Price said, “It’s a cracking line-up and we look all set for a great day of cricket.” Live commentary will be provided by the legendary Henry Blofield OBE.
Tickets are available on the gate. Children: £3; Adults: £5.
