Young Eastbourne footballers thrilled by visitor from San Jose Earthquakes

Since lockdown Old Town Boys & Girls FC have been keeping in touch with players and coaches setting fun challenges with players sending in videos and photos. Now they are back – with a bang.

From their roots back in 1983 they have recreated the same ethos of the Piercy and Denton era to bring back to Eastbourne a truly great footballing experience for all Foundation phase players.

Last week Alex Saunders, whose father Jim Saunders was club treasurer for Eastbourne Town FC for many years, was a guest coach.

Alex is the director of academy operations for MLS professional club San Jose Earthuakes in the USA and brought his electric enthusiasm and unique session delivery to Old Town – and the kids loved it.

The club were so grateful to Alex for donating four new goals for the season, with a spokesman saying it was ‘unbelievably generous’.

Old Town feed into Eastbourne Town FC and we are proud to continue the 1983 plan of building the next generation of Eastbourne Town FC players, male and female.

Dan Moorton is their new minis coach, which means they can deliver qualified coaching from levels L1 through to UEFA B.
