Hailsham Town saw their hopes of a successful cup campaign slashed after defeat to Arundel knocked them out of the FA Challenge Vase.
Manager Kenny McCreadie had been hoping a cup run would provide the club with some much-needed cash and confidence, but it wasn’t to be as his side slipped to their sixth loss across all competitions so far this season.
Hailsham welcomed Arundel to the Beaconsfield on Saturday on the back of defeats in the John O’Hara League Cup and the FA Challenge Cup.
And, despite the form books favouring the visitors, the Stringers managed to force extra time from their fellow Sussex County League Division One rivals.
After going behind early on, Simon Stevens equalised for the home side 10 minutes before half time.
However, Arundel piled on the pressure in extra time, scoring two decisive goals to send Hailsham crashing out.
The Stringers’ league match with Pagham FC this weekend has been postponed, meaning their next match is at home to Sidley United on Tuesday night.
