Eastbourne United AFC take to the road again this weekend and will be looking to make it six victories in a row in all competitions as they take on Rustington in Division Two of the Sussex County League.

United maintained the winning run that started with a 3-0 victory over Little Common in September by inflicting a first home league defeat of the season against Broadbridge Heath last weekend.

Saturday’s host, Rustington currently sit second from bottom of Division Two with just one league victory to their name from 11 league games so far this season. That victory came back in August when the beat Saltdean United 5-3 at Hill Park.

Last season’s visit to Jubilee Avenue saw a fractious start to the contest that saw Rustington lead 2-1 after just nine minutes, only for the match to fizzle out into a 2-2 draw that saw neither team really threaten the opposition ‘keeper.

Due to Rustington not having any floodlights, Saturday’s fixture will kick off at the earlier time of 2.15pm

Eastbourne United AFC will play their Parafix Sussex Senior Cup Second Round fixture against Ryman League side Lewes on Tuesday, November 27.

The fixture against Simon Wormull’s side is the first time the two sides have met in the Sussex Senior Cup since the 1997/98 season, when United lost 2-1 to The Rooks at the Dripping Pan in the Second Round.

On Tuesday, November 20 United play Lingfield in the third round of the RUR Cup.
