Tributes pour in for Eastbourne Town Football Club president Roger Addems

Eastbourne Town Football Club president and former chairman Roger Addems has died.

The club announced the news on Twitter saying: "The club are sorry to announce the passing of club President and former Chairman and Manager Roger Addems last night. We send are condolences to Roger's family."

Tributes have poured in to the popular figure in local football, who also won the Eastbourne Herald Sports Personality of the Year in 2008.

Stuart Tibble tweeted: "I've just heard that a friend and gentleman in Roger Addems has passed away! Spending many a time chatting at length with Roger about all things football and @eastbournetfc always put a smile on my face. R. I. P. my friend, u will be sadly missed. Tibbs"

Eastbourne Borough FC tweeted: "All at Eastbourne Borough FC are saddened to learn of the passing of Roger Addems, a long term servant and President of Eastbourne Town FC. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and all connected with the club he served so selflessly and tirelessly."
