Town are second in the table on 82 points from their 35 matches. Horsham lead the way at the top of the table by three points and also have a game in hand.

Town have gained just one point from a possible nine in their last three games while rivals Horsham have recorded three consecutive victories. Three points at YMCA would keep Town’s chances alive especially if neighbours Eastbourne United can do Town a huge favour by beating Horsham at the Oval on Saturday.

Town slipped further behind in the race for the Southern Combination Premier League title as they suffered a painful 3-1 home defeat to Pagham at the Saffrons last Saturday.

Following a scoreless first half, John Lambert’s men fell behind just after the hour thanks to a strike from Scott Murfin.

Matt Darby hauled Town back into the game on 68 minutes but late goals from Terrell Lewis and Jack Stanley sealed the three points for the fifth placed visitors.
