Town ease relegation fears with victory at Corinthian

Eastbourne Town returned from Tolworth on Saturday with maximum points after comfortably beating Corinthian Casuals.

Visiting keeper Kerion Thorp was not called on to make a save until the 79th minute.

Town started well with a good move started by Greg Manton who played Owen Kessack down the right wing, leaving Matt Mann in the Casuals goal to save a Dean Brooks shot well.

Sam Crabb and Brad Manton were causing Casuals all sorts of problems as they set up first Ryan James and then Brett Patten who saw their shots flash just over.

A rare Casuals raid into the Town half saw Tom Williams cross to Glen Boosey but Steve Elliott beat him in the air and cleared to safety.

Casuals’ main threat came from Tom Williams who had a super long throw but Steve Elliott and Greg Manton were winning the high balls. Matt Ferinando earned a yellow card after he flattened Jamal Carr on the half way line but Sim Robinson saw his shot hit the wall and break to James who run the length of the field and shot just wide from the edge of the area

Kawe Sergeant then saw yellow after he jumped in with a late challenge on Patten. Owen Kessack took the free kick which broke to Matt Ferdinando who chested down and fired home just inside the left post.

Ferdinando then fired over twice as Town looked to increase their lead before the break.

Five minutes into the second half the game was settled as Sam Crabb went down the wing and crossed for Brooks to head home to double the lead.’

Ginluca Del-Guarido replaced the not fully fit Ferdinando and played a good one-two with Brad Manton who saw his shot well blocked by Mann.

Casuals were frustrated and Robinson was shown a yellow card for a late challenge on James. Crabb was again the provider as Tim Rivers who had replaced Brad Manton Cooley slotted home.

Casuals then pushed forward and sub Dave Hodges forced a fine save out of Thorp.

With Casuals pushing forward Crabb beat the offside trap and found himself with only Mann to beat but rushed his shot which was straight at the advancing Mann.
