Eastbourne Town boss Danny Bloor hailed a ‘proper team performance’ as his side left unbeaten Folkestone Invicta with a hard earned point on Saturday.
Town fell behind in the third minute when Invicta’s Stuart King opened the scoring.
Sonny Cobbs was selected to make his season debut at centre back and he levelled the scores on 39 minutes when he lashed home after Lansdale’s long throw into the box caused havoc.
King added the home side’s second on 67 minutes but a battling Town were not to be denied.
Cobbs was thrown into a more attacking role in the dying moments and it was his presence in the box that caused a 92nd minute penalty.
Summer signing from Eastbourne Borough Matt Crabb was entrusted with the spot kick and he kept a calm head to earn a valuable point for Town.
Bloor, still smarting from his side’s 3-2 home defeat against Herne Bay on Bank Holiday Monday, said, “No complaints today, it was a proper team performance. I take blame for last Monday because I left out our skipper Nick Fogden.
“He returned today and was a leader on the pitch. The players deserve a lot of credit and special mention to Sonny Cobbs. He has had a tough pre-season but he returned today and was excellent. He scored and created our penalty.”
