Eastbourne Town’s Southern Combination Premier title credentials will face a stern test tomorrow (Saturday) as an in-form Chichester City visit the Saffrons.
Chichester are sixth in the table and have not lost in 11 matches, nine of which they have won.
Town, who suffered a 6-1 defeat in their Sussex Senior Cup clash at Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday, are keen to return to league action.
John Lambert’s side have not played in the league since their 1-0 local derby victory against Eastbourne United on December 28.
They are third in the league standings on 50 points but have four games in hand on leaders Lancing who are on 52 points.
Horsham, who have played a game more than Town, are second on 51 points.
Town manager Lambert said, “We were very rusty (at Bognor) and I saw a few things we will be working on. Bognor played very well and deserved to win and that is the level we have to try and get to.
“Chichester are flying at the moment and we are in for a very hard game on Saturday. They have really turned their season around and they are the form team in this division.
“But I know what we can do and we will be confident of getting three points. We are capable of beating anyone on our day.
“We are challenging for the title and we have to look to get three points from this one, it’s as simple as that.”
