Eastbourne Borough have re-signed popular striker and former player of the year Jamie Taylor from Margate in time for their match against Bath City at Priory Lane (Saturday, January 30; 3pm).

Taylor, 33, has scored 39 goals for the club in a two-season Conference Premier spell from 2009 to 2011, and then in a brief loan stint in 2014.

Taylor has initially signed a 28-day loan but manager Tommy Widdrington is hopeful of keeping him until the end of the season.

Widdrington said, “With Darren Lok set to miss games after his dismissal on Tuesday, and Elliott Romain also close to a possible suspension for totting up yellows, this is a great time for us to strengthen our squad with one of the best strikers in the division. Having worked with Jamie before, I had no hesitation in re-engaging his services.

“He has so much to offer both to me and my coaches, and to the rest of the team. We are still a young side and still eager to learn and Jamie brings experience and proven ability.”

Borough are 17th in the league on 27 points while tomorrow’s opponents Bath are just above them in 16th on 29 points.

Marvin Hamilton is suspended but Ian Simpemba is available.
